Daphnee Lavassas, a junior at Miami (Florida) representing Greece, finished fifth in the fastest section of the women's invitational 10,000 meters with a lifetime-best 33:00.60 to lower her own program record at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University's Cougar Stadium in Azusa, Calif. Lavassas improved from her 33:59.33 effort last year at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., elevating to the No. 4 all-time competitor in Greece. Lavassas produced the fastest performance by a Greek female athlete since Alexi Pappas achieved the national record 31:36.16 at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
